Who is Jessica?
"Where are you from?" is a question all third-culture kids (TCK) detest, and to which my only answer is, "it's complicated". Yet, the experience has been rewarding. I have benefited enormously from my diverse background (USA, Finland, Taiwan), the twenty eight times I've moved homes, the fourteen times I've transferred classes/schools, and the guiltless "on the way" travel which ensued. What I have gained is the ability to conform and adapt, the patience to quietly observe, and the flexibility to maneuver the complexities of cultural differences.
After joining motherhood, I took my background in English literature and my lifelong love for reading and writing and decided to make a career out of it. I have worked freelance during both pregnancies, remotely during maternity leave, and parti-time from home. As much as I appreciate freelance opportunities as additions to my portfolio and a means to keep my pen sharp, my final goal is to find an office to call my second home.
True joy comes from writing about your passions, and I am enthusiastic about global family life, cultural differences, as well as international education and career preparation. When I'm not reading and writing, I can be found drinking coffee out of a massive cup...and then refilling it.
